Naku Village

This village is cleaned every year in a traditional ceremony.
Other attractive events are the wedding ceremony, the coronation of the Raja (King), the inauguration of the village staffs and the legislative assembly. At night "antar sontong" by the fishermen is very interesting to join. Using the outriggers canoe and kerosene pressure lantern, from the deep sea, squids are gathered together and are stimulated to follow the light to come closer to the shore where people are waiting to get them by bailing them out of the sea.

 

Mamala Village

Mamala is one of the 16 villages of Leihitu sub district. The local people are still keeping their tradition and their environment well. Mamala village is well known for its special cultural attraction, Pukul Manyapu. The local youth beat one another with palm ribs until they are injured. Afterwards they apply a traditional specially made coconut oil to the wound that immediately cures the wounds without leaving any scar. Visit this village 7 days after the Idhul Fitri to watch this attraction.

 

Morela Village

The local people of Morela, still keep their traditional life system. Most of them are farmers and fishermen. Some ceremonies the people still have are " Maso Minta" and the Raja ( King ) coronation. The other cultural attractions are the war dance/cakalele, the well known "pukul manyapu " performance, perform-ed every year on the 7th day after the Idhul Fitri.
This village has a very fantastic under water sceneries not only for diving , snorkeling but just sitting on a canoe, paddling slowly along the coast and view down the beautiful scenery.

 

Liang Village

Liang village is known for its beautiful beach. Like the Halong village, Liang is also known for its Crazy Bamboo performance.The old Mosque built in the year 1645, although it has been renovated several times, like the Raja residence, the original architecture of the building is not changed . The coronation of the Raja is also an interesting attraction. One of the Maluku famous poet, D.W.Sijaranamual spent his last time here in Mamala. He always criticized the Colonialism at that time. He was sought, and hide himself in Mamala, but later got sick and passed away in this village. His tomb is still there in the village of Mamala

 

Moluccass Traditional Clothes

"Nona Canela" Custom

One of Moluccass traditional clothes is "Nona Canela" consist of "Kebaya" (traditional clothes for woman in Indonesia) usually the color of "Kebaya" using by Moluccass woman is white with 5 to 7 button and white "Cole" as brassiere conversion. "Kebaya" use for "Nona Canela" custom usually made of velvet. The woman  put some ornaments in her hair such as; "Papaceda" (flowers festoon) and "Canela" as sleepers.While the man using "Baniang" kind of coat in black or red color with white or black pants and shoes.

"Nona Rok" Custom

This traditional clothes is for royalty woman in Moluccas, woman using this traditional clothes called "Nona Rok", they usually use this kind of custom for party. Actually this is the same kind of custom just like "Nona  Canela" custom, the difference is that this custom using skirt as a counterpart of "Kebaya", skirt in local language called "rok", while the woman called "nona" that's why, woman using this custom called "Nona Rok". As sleepers they use shoes. The man use the same custom "Baniang" used in "Nona Canela" custom.


 

Moluccas Traditional Dances

"Lenso" Dance

LENSO” DANCE

Lenso” Dance is a welcome dance in Maluku Province. This traditional dance performed by women usually in welcome ceremony for guests visiting Ambon City. Women performing this traditional dance use Maluku traditional clothes with handkerchief as tools.

CAKALELE” DANCE

“Cakalele” Dance is a war dance in Maluku Province. Perform by young man as a symbol of Heroism Spirit. This traditional dance using real “Parang“ and “Salawaku“ equipment for war as tools.

BAMBU GILA” / CRAZY BAMBOO

This Traditional dance is unique, played by 4 to 6 men with bamboo as tools. Before they start the attraction, they will call the spirit of the ancestor first to fill the bamboo. The spirit in the bamboo will pull the men whom playing the attraction, even though this traditional dance play by big men, it is quiet difficult for they to hold the bamboo.

 

SAHUREKA-REKA” DANCE

This Traditional dance played by 4 men and 4 women using “Gaba-Gaba“ (Material of wood as tools). The Man will hold the “Gaba-Gaba“ and hit it into the ground following the music and the women will jump between the “Gaba-Gaba”. It will be an unique and attractive performance.
