Tapala Lake
Tapala Lake lies about 2.5 km from the village Hatunuru and 400 from the coast line. This lake is potential for the 12-surrounding villages as a source to take sago, wood, hunting and fishing area. Tapala lake is divided unto Tapala Besar or Big Tapala and Tapala Kecil or Small Tapala. A sago forest connects both lakes, and it is said that underneath the sago forest there is a canal that connects both lakes and one can pass this canal by a small canoe. The Big Tapala Lake is approximately 135 km2 width and the Small Tapala Lake about 3 km2. Both lakes are home of a variety offish, shrimp, eels, water snakes, crocodiles etc. The lakes are surrounded by beautiful scenery and bordered by Tapiley mountain in the east, Elena mountain in the west, Mantula in the south and in the north is flat land stretched far beyond.
