Talaga the sinking lake
About 10 km from the capital Piru one can find the village Talaga. The is a magnificent lake near the coast line and 2 mountains. According to the local myth this lake was once a village which sank to the bottom of the sea. According to sayings, if you go there fishing sometimes you'll get kitchen utensils such as spoons, bowls etc.
Hatumeten Fortress
In the village Lumuli one can find an old fort built by the locals during the war against Portuguese and Dutch. According to saying this fort was built by Kapitan Tusasa and kapitan Pattimura. There you can find also 2 bamboo bushes which grew there since the 17th century; these bushes were once the weapons of both Kapitans. This place is considered sacred.
Fort Vlissingen
This is an old Dutch fort built during the rule of Governor Simon Cos.
Fort Overburg
In the village of Luhu one can also see an old Dutch fort called Overburg.
Fort Wantrouw
Ruins of an old Dutch fort called Wantrouw built in 1657 during the rule of Governor Simon Cos, in the village Kelang on the island of Kelang.
Waisala village
The Radja (head) of Waisala village is a direct descendant of the Sultan of Ternate. Hoamoal was once a colony of the Sultanate of Ternate.
